The 3-day window isn’t just a countdown. Between the sale date and payment confirmation, the wire has to be initiated, processed, and received by Copart.

1. Sale Date

The payment clock starts on the day of sale, which is the day the Copart auction takes place, and your vehicle is sold to you as the winning bidder. Your purchase appears under Payments Due in your Copart account, along with the amount that needs to be paid.

Copart measures the payment period in business days, so weekends and US holidays can affect the number of banking days available.

2. Wire Transfer

Once the wire instructions have been confirmed, the transfer can be initiated through your bank or payment platform.

Sending the wire does not mean Copart has received the funds. The sending bank still has to process the transaction and successfully deliver it into the international banking system.

3. Bank Processing

An international wire may pass through the sending bank, intermediary banks, and the receiving bank before it reaches Copart.

Copart states that international wire transfers to their accounts take 48 – 72 hours to arrive. The actual timing can vary depending on when the transfer is submitted, the institutions involved, and whether the payment requires additional checks.

4. Payment Confirmation

Once Copart receives the funds, the payment still needs to be identified and matched to the correct account and purchase.

This is why the payment reference is important. Missing or incorrect information, such as a buyer number or lot number, can make it harder to apply the payment quickly. If a wire has been sent but does not appear within the expected timeframe, Copart provides a Wire Transfer Notification process if the funds are not posted to your account.

How Long Does it Take to Pay Copart From Nigeria?

What Happens If You Miss the Copart Payment Deadline?

Copart charges a $50 late payment fee per vehicle when payment is not received within the initial payment period. If the vehicle remains unpaid, the consequences can become more expensive.

If a lot has not been paid in full within 8 calendar days, including the day of sale, it may be relisted. The current fee schedule lists a relist fee of 10% of the final sale price, with a minimum of $600.
